In this course the students will learn about the aberration (defects in image formation) in imaging systems and different ways to correct them. They will also learn about the Woking principle of laser, laser properties and applications of laser.
Coherence is a very important property of the laser that is the basis of important phenomenon such as interference pattern. The basis of holography is interference and diffraction so interference and diffraction will be covered in the course. Holography is a method of recording and reconstructing the whole wavefront (amplitude and phase) and having enormous scientific, industrial, and bioscience's applications. Students will learn about digital holography and its use for various scientific, industrial and biomedical applications.

この科目は大学院博士後期課程における支援プロジェクトの「持続可能な社会構築に向けた島根大学高度人材育成プロジェクト(S-SPRING)」の一環として博士前期課程の学生向けに開講している科目です。S-SPRINGでは博士後期課程の学生に対し、月15万円の生活費と年間40/70万円の研究費の支援を行っており、令和7−8年度は毎年8−9名の新規育成性を募集する予定です。講義は、5月以降にオンデマンドのビデオ講義により行われます。
